Community
The Montessori Academy of Chicago prides itself on building a bridge between home and school. Regular communication with teachers and extensive parent educational opportunities ensure that together we are partners in education for your family and providing a foundation that meets the needs of the whole child.
Parent Involvement
Parents play an integral role in our school community. We seek to provide an activity-based learning environment that mirrors the warmth of the home, while providing educational options that rival colleges. Montessori parents share in the life of the student by attending parent-teacher conferences, committee meetings, and special events. Classroom observations and discussions with teachers further involve parents in their child's experience at school. In order to assist our families as partners, the Montessori Academy of Chicago offers regular parent education sessions. We seek to reinforce basic Montessori principles of healthy child development and provide a forum for feedback and discussion to share concerns, goals and experiences. Topics include positive discipline, Montessori in the home, the Montessori curriculum, family life, social, emotional and moral development on all levels, and Love and Logic™ Seminars from the very youngest children through adolescence.
Volunteer
Parents can volunteer in many ways including parent work days, chaperoning class outings, volunteering at social functions throughout the year, and more. Interested parents can also join the Friends of Montessori Academy of Chicago in their support of the school's continued growth.
