Admissions

The Montessori Academy of Chicago is currently accepting applications for the Infant through Elementary I programs (3rd grade) for the 2010-2011 school year. Our school will continue to expand to meet our students’ needs as the community grows. We project to serve children through sixth grade by 2013.

Admission at The Montessori Academy of Chicago is a two-fold process designed to provide parents with the opportunity to learn more about the Academy, its philosophy and policies, and its people. We think of it as enrolling families, not just students and our goal is to select families who will both benefit from and contribute to the community the Academy has to offer.

Students are enrolled for a full, 12-month calendar year. Applications are accepted throughout the year and acceptance decisions are made on a rolling basis. The Academy also accepts pre-natal applications from expecting parents interested in reserving a space for their future child.

The admission process is as follows:

• Parents complete the application and return it with the $150 application fee to the Montessori Academy of Chicago’s Admissions Office, 1335 West Randolph Street Chicago, IL 60607
• The Admission Office sends an acknowledgement to parents upon receipt of the application and the processing fee.
• In the meantime, a parent can learn more about the Academy by getting involved in our: Prospective Parent Coffees (includes presentation and tour), Parent Education Seminars (announced from time to time), Parent-Child Observation Classes (a nine-week session runs seasonally) and by signing up for our e-newsletters by joining our mailing list. Participation in Academy activities may positively affect a child’s candidacy.
• The Admission Committee reviews the application and all necessary information and makes a decision.
• When the applicant is accepted, an enrollment agreement is sent. A student is formally admitted when the signed agreement and applicable fees are received by the Admission Office, and the agreement is countersigned by an appropriate representative of the Montessori Academy of Chicago.
